How to Relieve Stress and Depression via Natural Means
One of the common health care fads today would be using natural and alternative measures of how to relieve stress and depression.
- Having massage sessions does not only cause stress relief and tension that are felt in the muscles and joints, but it also promotes the release of natural pain relievers of the body called endorphins. Also, patients who are suffering from depression may benefit from the physical skin to skin contact between the individual doing and the one receiving these long strokes in the body.

Because of this busy lifestyle that we have wherein we are more likely to become stressed in terms of physical and mental, the best stress reliever for me is having a massage while at the same time an aromatherapy. Massage really helps alleviate physical stress while aromatherapy also helps relieve mental stress.

Hi Michellle,
Thanks for sharing your experince.
The best stress reliever for me is physical exercise. What do you think about physical exercises?
I think I like that idea. Maybe some sports would work for me. If it would not be a problem to you, can you give some physical exercises that you usually do to reduce your stress.

Hi Anna,
Thanks for sharing great idea. I believe that it helps.
Cool! Sounds like a good idea. I tried even though I wasn’t blue exactly at the moment. But for one reason or another, I just started smiling later, and kept the smile a long while

I think physical exercise is the best medicine. If that is not enough, definitely seeking professional help and some medication will help. Some of the people, like myself have a chemical imbalance which was knocked wacky after I had my son.
I do exercise with medication to help keep me rolling. Now, I do know people have different reactions to medicines for depression. Most, it takes at least a month for the medicine to actually have an effect and missing doses is not good.
I also find that having a pet can help with stress and my cat really does help. Funny, just petting him calms me down.

Hi Nile,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I also find physical exercise and meditation helpful.
I’ve always had a ‘thing’ about not taking drugs of any kind. I dabbled with herbs many years ago, but in all honest I’m rarely depressed and when I do mind myself headed in that direction I know it’s because I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for too long and it’s time for a break. That normally works for me.

Hi Marquita,
Thanks for this comment.
I think that natural ways to relieve stress are the best and will make your life happier and healthier.
I love getting massages! I need to have them more often.
I too find that exercise helps me a lot. When I feel it coming on I have the honor of having two big dogs that love to go for walks. No matter the day, time or weather they are always willing to accompany me on a walk!

Thanks for posting this great article, Edyta!
The thing a lot of people don’t understand about taking anti-depressant drugs is that it is only a temporary fix. You still need to take care of whatever caused the depression in the first place, or it will return with a vengeance once you’re off the meds. The drugs do help by putting you into a better state of mind, so that you are able to face your problems. But you need to face them while on the drugs, because the drugs only help while you’re taking them.
Herbs are a different story. Herbs are not drugs… they are nutrition, which go straight to the problem, whether it’s depression or arthritis or any number of other ailments. They don’t cure you either… they help your body heal itself.

I agree with you. We need to find the root cause of our stress and find ways to cope with it.
Lately, everybody has gotten so busy. We are all caught up with our job and all the other responsibilities that we forget to take care of ourselves. This not being able to take good care of ones self leads to stress and worse, depression. It’s nice that massages and even talk can be good ways to relieve stress. Simple, inexpensive yet very effective for sure!
