How to Find Peace Within Yourself: 4 Ways to Finding Inner Peace

Jan 12th, 2012

How to find peace within yourself could be quite difficult if people are not open to the idea at all.  Many people have found it funny or ridiculous when doctors try to tell them to find peace within themselves.  But then, looking at the different religions of the world, many actually preach how to find inner peace.  When this is done, overcoming stress is an easy task.  Finding peace of mind in a world full of stressors would benefit a lot of people.

4 Ways to Finding Inner Peace

Ho To Find Peace Within YourselfA lot of people would say the only way to find peace within yourself is to do a close examination of one’s self.  This is remarkably true and this is also evident with a lot of activities and even religions. Finding peace of mind is not an overnight journey, as many experts emphasize.  It is important for the people to choose the activity that best suits them.

 1. Meditating

Many religions incorporate meditation as a way of finding inner peace.  This also helps in getting rid of overwhelming stress.  Meditation focuses on the different ways on how to find inner peace, which is by emptying one’s mind of all thoughts.  It is has been said that even 20 minutes of meditation a day could already alleviate the stress.

2. Experiencing nature

Being one with nature is not bad at all.  People tend to be confined in small spaces that nature is forgotten.  Many people really say that a short trip to the nature park could already clear up muddled thoughts and weary minds.  Nature itself exudes a tranquility that the fast-paced world lacks nowadays.  It is good to keep in touch with nature every once in a while.

3. Embracing one’s beliefs

Believing and doing are two separate things.  People who put into action what they believe in really know how to find peace within yourself.  It helps to live and do what a person truly believes in. Many people would live more fruitfully if they try to embrace their beliefs and live without hesitations.

4. Living simply

In the past, simple tastes also bring about simple joys.  With the fast-tracked world of today, things tend to become even more complex.  When people are caught up with the complexities of life, they lose track of the inner peace.  Living simply will help to diminish these complexities and people will be able to focus more on finding inner peace.

Towards Reaching the Goal: Inner Peace

There are many ways to find peace within yourself.  Choosing one that suits them would help them to regain the peace that could have gotten lost in the pursuit of what they thought would make things simpler.  When people find inner peace, they experience a kind of calm that no money could buy.  They will also be able to handle their stress better, as compared to those who are still cooped up in their own worries and burdens. Inner peace also brings in a lot of positive energy and this in turn, will open up a lot of good things in the future.

  1. I used meditation before to find inner peace. I was going through a lot of difficulties before, that were too much to live with. Meditation helped me get through all these things.

  2. Wonderful advice … I especially like #3 Embracing Beliefs. Having confidence in our choices and beliefs can take us a long way toward achieving inner peace. I’m also a big believer in spending quality time outdoors, even if it’s just an afternoon walk through the park with my dog. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. These are wonderful suggestions, Edyta. Inner peace is truly the greatest wealth one can acquire. I would second and recommend all your suggestions for cultivating inner peace because I practice them myself. Can’t imagine a day without meditation, for instance. An easy way to achieve inner peace is to make it a daily habit. Much like a daily shower. :)

  5. Edyta, thank you for the wonderful suggestions. I was going to pick and choose certain of these as my favorites: but I love them all! I’m particularly working on simplifying my life this year after reading Leo Babauta’s Power of Less. Also, I really need to work on the mindful meditation, because it’s well documented how helpful it is to our health.
